Follow the Ballad Trail of Historic Dublin on Ireland’s Only Musical Bus Experience.
Ireland’s first musical bus tour will launch in Dublin this week ahead of St.Patrick’s Day. The Bandwagon Bus promises to be a fun experience for families, friends and visitors. The ballad trail will take you from the centre of Dublin, starting on Westmoreland Street, heading across the city, taking in all of the popular sites in Dublin. Each tour begins with a brief introduction and with each song comes a snapshot of history. Sit back, relax and enjoy a live traditional ballad concert whilst admiring some of Dublin’s most famous sites.
Musician and Founder Ciaran Warfield says, “This is a dream come true for me. As a musician and a lover of the rich musical history we have here on the Island of Ireland, the Bus provides a unique opportunity to link the ballads with the places and people that they represent”. Familiar songs that can be heard on the bus include Whiskey in the Jar, Molly Malone, Rare Old Times, Padraic Pearse, the Ferryman, Raglan Road, the Auld Triangle, Grace, Zoological Gardens and some surprise favourites.
Sites include the GPO, the Daniel O’Connell Monument, Trinity College, the Garden of Remembrance, the James Joyce Statue, Dublin Castle, Christchurch Cathedral, the Guinness Brewery, Kilmainham Gaol and Phoenix Park.
Hand clapping and toe tapping is welcome on board and the musicians encourage all passengers to sing-a-long to some of the classic Irish ballad hits. “We have already expressed interest from as far as the US and Australia. We are excited to show off our rich musical history on this epic experience. We have secured some of Ireland’s top musicians to serenade listeners from near and far with some of our most loved Irish ballads” says Ciaran.
Each tour costs €30 per person and will last between 1 ½ to 2 hours, depending on traffic. The wheels are in motion and the Bandwagon Bus is ready to offer their unique musical tours to the public. V
